Our History
The Ukrainian Village was one of the founding members of the Brantford International Villages Festival. Representing the vibrant Ukrainian-Canadian community of Brantford, at times in our history there were multiple Ukrainian villages represented by the Ukrainian-Ukraina and Ukrainian-Kiev villages. Originally hosted in locations on both Terrace Hill and West St., the current Ukrainian Village was created 10 years ago at its' new home at Harmony United Church on Marlborough St.

The Ukrainian Village has continued the half-century tradition of presenting our unique culture, food and renowned dance performances to the Brantford community. Whether it is our newest "Little Pro" dancers or our most experienced dancers presenting the lively and energetic Hopak, our dance group composed entirely of local dancers present a Village experience unlike any other. The lines of people who join us each year (often multiple times in the same year's festival) are always well entertained and well fed.

The Board of Directors, elected each year at our AGM, along with our wonderful parents, grandparents, dancers and "Ukrainians by choice" volunteers, work tirelessly to prepare for each year's village. Pierogies, Cabbage Rolls, Meat on a Stick, Kielbassa and Ukrainian beverages are always on the menu for our visitors.

We are proud to welcome Brantford and the larger community to the Ukrainian Village each year. If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a sponsor, please contact us - many hands make light work. If you are interested in joining us for a performance and dinner during the Villages Festival - please arrive early; the lines are long and we have limited seating capacity (we would gladly have more in the audience if we could!) We take it as a compliment that many want to be entertained by our Village and we fill every seat for every show.

We look forward to welcoming all to the Ukrainian Village.

Slava Ukraini!
